The Ukrainian flag is burning in Silver Spring.

The police department in Montgomery County is investigating the burning of Pride and Ukrainian flags in various neighborhoods of Silver Spring, Maryland. The incident occurred overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, and the department has identified several burned flags. Authorities are working to identify the individuals responsible for the hate-based vandalism. The affected neighborhoods include Mansfield Road, Wayne Place, Ellsworth Place, Greenbrier Drive, Pershing Drive, and Deerfield Drive. A surveillance video released by NBC Washington shows a person covering their face while setting a pride flag on fire, causing damage to a door frame. Council members and residents of the affected neighborhoods expressed shock and concern over the incident.
